E Table Flanges are Mild Steel pipe flanges manufactured as per Indian Standard IS:1538 Table E. They define specific dimensional parameters (OD, PCD, bolt count, bolt size, thickness) for each nominal bore size from 15mm to 600mm. They feature a flat face (FF) mating surface and are available in pressure ratings PN6, PN10 and PN16. They are the standard flange specification for Indian municipal water, sewage, fire-fighting and industrial piping projects.

IS:1538 is the Indian Standard specification for cast iron and mild steel pipe flanges. It contains multiple dimension tables (Table D, Table E, Table F, etc.) each defining different dimensional series. Table E is the most widely used dimension series in India for water and industrial piping. The Table E series specifies flanges that are interchangeable with valves, fittings and equipment manufactured to IS:1538 by all major Indian manufacturers.

E Table Flanges (IS:1538) follow Indian Standard dimensions — including OD, bolt circle, bolt count and thickness for each NB size. They use a flat face (FF) design. ANSI Flanges (ANSI B16.5) follow American Standard dimensions — different OD, PCD, bolt count values for the same NB sizes. They typically have a raised face (RF). The two standards are NOT interchangeable — do not mix IS:1538 and ANSI flanges in the same bolted joint. Always match the standard of the flange to the standard of the mating valve or fitting.

IS:1538 E Table Flanges have a flat face (FF) mating surface. They must always be used with a full-face (FF) gasket that covers the entire flange face including the bolt holes. Common gasket materials for E Table Flanges include: natural rubber (NR) for water; neoprene (CR) for oil service; EPDM for chemical service; compressed asbestos fibre (CAF) or graphite-based sheet for general industrial service. Never use a raised face (RF) ring gasket with flat face flanges.
